Camera Brands Guide

In the early days of camera production, there used to only be a few reputable companies available that made great consumer cameras. Now, however, there are more choices than ever in cameras and camera brands. All have their pros and cons and different people want different things from their cameras. So, how do you decide which one is right for you?

Companies like Canon, Fujifilm, and Kodak have been around for a very long time and have quite a good reputation in the camera industry. Casio, Nikon, and Olympus also are well-known for making quality cameras at affordable prices. With new competitors emerging on the scene, how do you know which company produces the best camera?

First, you must realize that there is no such thing as the very best camera. Some cameras perform better than others in certain tasks and different cameras offer different features so it is often a matter of opinion. It is up to you to decide what you want in a camera and what you feel is important. Only you know how much money you can spend and what kind of performance you'd like to see in your new purchase.

If portability and ease-of-use is a big concern for you, you'll want to buy a small point-and-shoot camera that you can keep with you and take anywhere. Go to your local electronics retail store and play with the display models to get a feel for what you might like. If you want to be able to take large, clear pictures that are suitable for print, you will want a camera that boasts higher megapixels. Keep in mind, though, that more megapixels means larger photo files so you'll need a storage card that can handle it.

New features like instant red-eye removal and face recognition software are popping up on cameras all over the place. These features help you take better pictures so you can avoid the disappointment in seeing a storage card filled with blurry photos. Not all camera brands offer these new features so make sure you check before you buy.

Generally, most popular camera companies today make a wide range of cameras to suit every style and need. If you want to find out about a particular brand or camera ahead of time, go online and do some research. You're sure to find plenty of user reviews that will help point you in the right direction when it's time to buy your new camera.
